Avery Jamar Atkins, 20, was laid to rest Saturday in his hometown of Daytona Beach, Florida. Atkins was the epitome of the charismatic star athlete who wanted to give back to his family, teammates, friends, school, and community. He didn’t get the chance. Atkins had a good heart. A heart that no matter where he registered to take his next class or step out on the gridiron opposite the top receiver- longed to be on the University of Florida campus.
